OHAI ISLAND BUDDY?
It’s been 3 years since I lost two people that meant a lot to me and 10 since the fuckery that 19 hijackers inflicted on the world. This is one of few weeks each year that I’ll always cut my sarcastic, I-don’t-care-about-anything-or-anyone crap.
Since leaving Jersey and coming to college, I’ve realized that September 11th means a lot less to most people than it does for those of us from the tristate/DC/VA/PA. My friends from Boston, while respectful, seem to acknowledge the event but not much more. My friends from California seem to barely know it happened.
I completely understand this disparity and can only wish everyone could comprehend the gravity of the attacks. Try watching some of the videos from that day. As disturbing as it may be, it’ll help you understand the pain of so many families and friends, and how much we should appreciate being alive to do all the frivolous crap that we do.
Please don’t let the people we lost fall into oblivion.
